Per gli appassionati di fotografia naturalistica fino a qualche anno fa l'Ibis era solamente un grosso quanto bruttarello uccello abbastanza raro da fotografare in Italia, oggi invece quando ci riferiamo all'Ibis parliamo dell'acronimo di In-Board Image Stabilization, cioè il meccanismo di stabilizzazione del sensore.
